Minimally-invasive WLS Officially Improves Morbidly Obese Teens

This is why health conferences and hardworking researchers sweating away in their labs are so important. When they bring out amazing news like this, our lives become just a little bit safer and better.

The scientists at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian and Columbia University Medical Center discussed a study which pointed out the benefits of weight loss surgery. Teenagers that are morbidly obese and overweight were the focus of the study and the findings could prove to be very helpful in treating the growing ranks of this group in America.

The teens studied were found to lose an average weight of 20 lbs. in just 6 months after a Lap-Band procedure. While lower fat levels and diabetes-causing agents were found to improve, it is unlikely that they will be able to polish off the results of the treatment with a tummy tuck.

The after-effects of the surgery however in itself, should be able to let such teens enjoy the results till they are of an age to have a cosmetic procedure like tummy tuck surgery. Indeed, tummy tuck procedures are offered by top plastic surgeons only after the individual has been found to be over 18 years of age.

This is not to mean that no exceptions are made as there are some children who face health and related problems due to excess weight. To know what's best for your child let us know at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California and we'll help you out.

David Beckham - Underwear Model To Love

David Beckham's underwear print campaign for Emporio Armani has me and a lot more people wondering just how much of his body is airbrushed.

Not a common practice among male underwear models (and female too), padding strategic locations and buffing biceps, pecs and abs with photoshop has been done for years. In David Beckham's case it could be a combination of exercise and airbrushing though.

David, an athlete (footballer) by profession enjoys advertisements as a professional perk and no wonder since his body more than passes muster. Not one to tend to his muscle tone through a cosmetic surgery procedure like a tummy tuck, Beckham prefers the grunt-work.

To get a body like Beckham without going through all the workout hassle is not easy as even a tummy tuck procedure like abdominal etching will not deliver the results you want. However, it is an excellent treatment for those men who just want the appearance of a six-pack.

The abdominal etching surgery is done on an outpatient basis and makes use of inherent fat deposits to carve out ridges in the patient's abdomen. The Plastic Surgery Institute of California offers this surgical procedure as part of our abdominoplasty services.

Tummy Tuck – A Decision By Choice

Toyah Willcox (50) was one of the coolest trend-setters of pop punk, distinguished by and large for her assorted hairstyles and looks. Age might have mellowed her but has certainly not taken any of her spunkiness away.

There is no doubt that Toyah's ageless beauty has different plastic surgery procedures hidden behind it. She herself has admitted to her various procedures at various times. Also it goes without saying that for most aging Hollywood actresses plastic surgery seems to be a career requirement.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Toyah revealed that in the past she has had a face lift surgery and a hormone implant. She now wants to go in for a tummy tuck and a breast reduction surgery. Though her husband is against this she says, "If he goes away on a long tour I might just have it done anyway and not tell him".

Toyah Willcox' childhood was not as fortunate as other children's. Because of a certain physical disorder found at birth she had to go through years of surgery and physiotherapy.

This might give an impression that she is fanatical about surgeries. But, every woman has the right to take her own decisions and Toyah has wisely taken a good one with the different cosmetic enhancements she had at various stages of her life

At the center for tummy tuck in Beverly Hills  we respect this and help women take decisions and clear their doubts. A majority of our female clients opt for the tummy tuck procedure, a surgical process to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall and trim away excess skin.

Ditch The Pounds With Breakfast Or A Tummy Tuck

Adelle Davis had it bang on when she told the world to "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper."

Researcher Dr. Daniela Jakubowicz proceeded to prove Adele right by expounding on her adage at a recent San Francisco conference. She presented her studies on women who had been put on special diets for a period spanning several months.

People who breakfasted lavishly were usually found to include fibre and fruit making it a very healthy course of action. Such breakfast menu also caused them to lose out on hunger pangs, naturally making them feel less inclined to eat.

Quite a natural weight control method I must say.

For an overweight person this could result in unsatisfactory results. This is mainly because once the diet is on track and the tummy has been taken in there will be pockets of flesh that will look bulky. At such a stage tummy tuck surgery can prove to be very handy.

Tummy tuck procedures trim off excess, unwanted skin lending the belly a wonderful toned look. See the options we have at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California.

Pink Patch: Weight Loss Scam?

I came across this unusual weight loss method on one of my favorite health and fitness sites FitSugar and needless to say, got very curious.

The Pink Patch claims to help the user lose 1-3 pounds of weight per week by just sticking a strip of specially treated latex to a body part. Sounds simple and it probably is if it weren’t for the fact that it makes use of an ingredient called Fucus Vesiculosus.

The ingredient also goes by the name Bladderwrack and has been long included in many weight loss methods as it has been believed to cause a lift in metabolism and is held to induce weight loss. The Pink Patch somehow fails to mention that Bladderwrack has not been tested on humans successfully.

I did a little checking of my own after visiting the links laid out in FS and realized that they couldn’t be more correct.

Weight loss may be a desperate must-have for young people in college, but it cannot be achieved that easily. PSI abdominoplasty thinks it’s better for this age group to exercise till they enter adult-hood. If losing weight is still a problem after going through all the effort, cosmetic surgery procedures like a tummy tuck can be considered.

Make a wise decision to maintain a healthy body mass index and think through any alternative options before you go ahead with them. Visit the Plastic Surgery Institute of California to know more about tummy tuck procedures and prices.

Abdominoplasty - A Journey From Flabulous To Fabulous

Michelle weighed 250 pounds at the age of 18. At school, she was nicknamed ‘Permanently Pregnant’. The moniker made her find some excuse or another to miss school and put on more weight. She felt absolutely ravaged.

One day as she gazed at herself in the mirror, Michelle realized she needed help. She told her mother about how she felt.

Her mom initially thought that plastic surgery procedures like tummy tuck and liposuction would help her daughter regain her confidence. But due to her daughter’s tender age, she thought it best that Michelle lose some pounds through work outs. She immediately took steps and enrolled Michelle in a program to lose weight.

Thanks to years of maintaining her weight with her mother’s support, Michelle lost 55 pounds before her 24th birthday. But, something still spoilt the effect of her weight loss - her sagging skin.

She wasted no time and got in touch with us at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California. Our consultants advised her to have an abdominoplasty wherein, excess skin could be removed from the middle and lower abdomen.

The results that Michelle achieved from this cosmetic surgery procedure were remarkable. She simply loves the way she looks now.

A Wonderful Freak Of Nature – “The Body”

Far from venturing onto scientific grounds with that POV, The Body I’m referring to is the title given to the woman called Elle Macpherson.

The 44-year-old supermodel was spotted at a photoshoot in London recently and was seen doing her thing on a balcony. And does she do a better job than Victoria Beckham or what!

Elle is in the same hallowed circle of supermodels like Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington and was a magnificent ramp scorcher in the 90’s with a killer body. It was her awesome figure that earned her the nickname ‘The Body’.

A cosmetic surgeon’s dream, Elle Macpherson has got curves in all the right places. Her tummy may not be that toned after giving birth to three kids, but its nothing that a tummy tuck can’t fix.

Even models need a little maintenance very now and then, but Elle has got past the stage where she has to worry about her looks and body. While she wouldn’t completely rule out plastic surgery, I doubt a tummy tuck procedure is something she is going to be having anytime soon.

What do you think? Would you like to have a figure like the Big Elle at 44? The Plastic Surgery Institute of California would like to know and help you out if you do.

PSI Raves About - Tummy Tuck Tattoos

When something like ScarArt comes along, you automatically start wondering why something so basic took so long.

ScarArt products are actually temporary tattoos that are specifically designed for concealing tummy tuck scars. Right now the retailers are marketing three really cute designs and we are hoping they expand to more interesting stuff.

Not much can be done for scars that are obtained after a satisfying tummy tuck surgery except to deal with their unpleasing appearance and then forget about them as they gradually fade. For women who are used to showing skin and love mid-riff baring tops, the post-tummy tuck recovery period can be rather irksome.

A strip of butterflies or a band of flowers floating about the belly admittedly looks much better than an angry, swollen scar. Their clever way of concealing tummy tuck scars for a couple of days makes ScarArt a very cheerful recovery aid. The manufacturers claim the tattoos are FDA regulated and make use of safe adhesives and colors that don’t smudge and are waterproof. All the more reason to get one or all of them!

The Plastic Surgery Institute of California, an advance surgical institute for cosmetic tummy tuck procedures thinks aids like these could make the recovery process more fun. It certainly could encourage women to go out more during the scar healing period.

Tummy Tuck After A Fat Transfer

Take a look at this and I guarantee you it’s going to leave you stunned enough to feel good about your body!

Now seeing a hottie like Carmen Electra is enough to turn most women into tiny green devils, but have hope women, no one’s perfect. While the photo above has been photoshopped heavily, Carmen like most women does have her fat days.

This is probably one of the reasons why she went and had a liposuction in Beverly Hills last month. Taking her cosmetic surgery a step further Carmen transferred the extracted fat into other parts of her body.

Fat transfer procedures are sometimes performed along with a lipoplasty or a tummy tuck and grant patients an opportunity to reuse fat in those parts of the anatomy that lack volume. The downside of this procedure is that the area from which fat has been removed is (at times) left with muscles that sag and excess skin.

A tummy tuck surgery conveniently takes care of this problem though and leaves the patient with taut abdominal muscles. It is understandable if Carmen would have forgone a tummy tuck procedure though given her figure.

If you would prefer to have a tummy tuck after a fat transfer liposuction, you could ask our consultants at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California if the procedure is alright for you. Our facilities are accredited and approved by the AAAHC.

Fern Britton Finally Proud Of Weight Loss

I feel very sorry for this woman, but then I think about the message she’s sending out to millions of overweight women (and men) out there and I have to rethink.

While Fern Britton is right in emphasizing the need for a woman to keep some things private, I disagree with the sneaky way she went about her weight loss issue. For a woman who is very much in the public eye, it is important to consider the repercussions.

Fern lost 5 stone over a period of two years and attributed her weight loss to diet and exercise a la most actresses and socialites. What she glossed over was that she had weight loss surgery to get her down 7 dress sizes.

A gastric bypass surgery, very popular with obese individuals, reduces the size of the stomach. This causes the person to ingest less food and serves as an efficient appetite-curb.

A GBP is one of the various bariatric surgery options we offer at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California. If the patient is up for more cosmetic tweaks and nips then an abdominoplasty too is performed.

Fern very well could have had a tummy tuck to get rid of sagging belly muscles and excess skin after her weight loss surgery. Sadly, she has lost the chance to be a beacon of hope for many women who have had weight loss surgery.

You, however have the option to make your life better and your body trimmer with our select tummy tuck procedures and WLS options. Get in touch with us for an appointment.
